There is time until Oct. 10, 2023, to create and create your own work and participate in the seventh edition of the National Illustrated Tactile Publishing Competition “It’s Your Turn!” which will be hosted in Bologna from Oct. 26-29, 2023, between the headquarters of the Institute for the Blind Francesco Cavazza and the splendid civic library “Sala Borsa.”
It is organized by the National Federation of Institutions for the Blind, the Robert Hollman Foundation and the Francesco Cavazza Institute for the Blind in Bologna, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture-General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutions, the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Consultation between Ancient Institutions of Bologna, Sed and SVP Worldwide Italy, with the patronage of the City of Bologna and Nati per leggere.
The “It’s Your Turn!” award is free and open to everyone: illustrators, artists, teachers, educators, students and classes, as well as artisans, simple enthusiasts… Since 2011, it has been supporting and promoting tactile publishing nationwide with an awareness of the importance of the book in the development of every child, even those with visual impairment, as an indispensable source of knowledge, experimentation, play, school and social integration.
Members of the Senior and Junior Jury will meet on Thursday, Oct. 26 and Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at the Francesco Cavazza Institute to select the five winning books that, representing Italy, will also participate in the 16th International “Typhlo & Tactus” competition scheduled in Lublin, Poland, Oct. 6-8, 2024.
On Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m., the official award ceremony will be held in the beautiful setting of the civic library “Sala Borsa” where an exhibition of all the works in the competition will also be set up and will remain on public display until Sunday, Oct. 29.
Entries should be sent to the Federation’s Rome office by Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 along with the participation and personal data processing consent forms (downloadable along with the full announcement from www.libritattili.prociechi.it in the “Competitions” section).
