The Cannero Riviera Center is participating in the “Verbania: City of Children” event, which has chosen to highlight the right to play outdoors for this new edition, scheduled for Sunday, September 20, in Pallanza (Verbania).
This issue is of fundamental importance for children, as it promotes the freedom to play and the right to grow up healthy and in harmony with nature.
The educational programs offered by the organizations participating in “Verbania, City of Children” will therefore be inspired by the wonderful “Manifesto on the Natural Rights of Children” by the educationalist Gianfranco Zavalloni, which was first published exactly 20 years ago, calling on adults to consider the risk of “robbing” children of experiences, emotions, and opportunities.
The event on Sunday, the 20th, will take place in the afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Pallanza at three locations: in the Villa Maioni park, inside the Ceretti Public Library, and in the outdoor area of the Teatro Maggiore. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
The space set aside for the Cannero Riviera Center will be nestled amid the greenery and tranquility of the public park: the sensory trail “Sporcarsi di meraviglia” will be created around several points from Zavalloni’s Manifesto, stimulating physical perception and encouraging young children to engage with the elements of nature.
The “right to get dirty” and the “right to use one’s hands” will be explored through hands-on activities involving different textures, using sensory tempera paints for finger painting and the exploration of recycled materials. Next, we’ll focus on the “right to silence” and the “right to nuances” with a quiet moment guided by the exploration of tactile picture books published by the National Federation of Institutions for the Blind: *Soffio di vento * and *Ombra*. In the activities offered, the interplay between “doing” and “feeling” will prioritize the pace and needs of the youngest children.
